Every artist has their seasons.
BFA Portfolio
This season shows the beginnings of Kareem’s fiber art exploration. These works include found objects, scrap fabric, embroidery, and more. From 2019 to 2024, Kareem studied at Mississippi State University under the Sculpture concentration. On their off days, Kareem would make cut out poetry and embroider miniature storybook animal portraiture.

(Haunt)ologies - BFA Thesis
Kareem’s BFA Senior Thesis was a step into ritualistic practice as art form. Painstakingly sewn by hand over 3 months, this installation regards the relationship between self and family. Fluff and visible stitches become blood and scars. Teacups and teapot become a statement on the inevitable weight of service and duty.

Aries Venus Return in the tenth
When Kareem was awarded a residency over March through May 2025 in Manchester, New Hampshire, they were also experiencing important astrological transits regarding how to present oneself to the public. In response, Kareem used the opportunity to further their fiber art knowledge by using natural dyeing processes and hand stitched labor. Shisha embroidery was a major research fascination as a record of ancestral wisdom.

Recently something has been burbling under the surface. Iterating off previous works regarding the body, recent research explores disgust and intrigue through material juxtaposition between gore and fabric. Kareem considers cannibalism as a metaphor for ravenous love.
